Rita-Marie Lawlor is a photographer and award winning filmmaker from Dublin. Her work ranges from fashion, film stills, music and portraits. She is Royal Photographic Society (London) accredited after she was awarded distinctions for her portfolio's and has been working as a professional photographer since 2001. Although her work mainly consists of sports photography - rugby union in particular, her work has appeared on numerous sites and in newspapers. Featured shots in this blog are Autumn Internationals 2006 and 2008, Heineken Cup spanning from 2005, Guinness Premiership and Magners League. Rugby testimonials are also featured as well as American Football and Martial Arts tournaments.

Her new debut feature film Apollo Music Club has had two screenings in Ireland so far, once at it's premier and also at the Waterford film festival. It will be screened on Irish TV channels in the coming weeks. www.myspace.com/apollomusicclub www.myspace.com/rmlfilmsdublin

Rita-Marie Lawlor began her studies within the arts in 1996 at the age of 18. She has certificates in music and was a drummer in two bands as well as playing guitar and keyboards. She was awarded a distinction in music theory from Victoria college of music, London. She also holds certificates in performing arts both in London and Dublin and a Guildhall diploma in theatre studies. The second youngest from a very musical family of six she has worked on many films and TV shows spanning from 1997 – 2008 as a production assistant, stills photographer, actor, extra and director/screenwriter/producer. She graduated in 2004 with a B TEC HND in film production and won a best film award for her short film Innocence which she co-directed and produced in November 2003, it was screened in Irish Film Institute, Dublin. Her new and first feature film which was made in the Summer of 2007 – Apollo Music Club premiered in August 2008, she wrote the script, produced, directed and acted in it. Apollo Music Club was selected for the Waterford film festival 2008 and will screen on November 6th.

Rita-Marie is working on setting up her own independent film company RML Films

Other interests include Forensic Psychology and Criminology after she studied it briefly. She hopes to study for a diploma in Crime Scene Investigation at the end of 2008 as well as furthering her films studies.
She practices Yoga - Hatha, Ashtanga and Iyengar and holds a blue belt in Korean martial art Tae Kwon Do. She has been a vegetarian for nineteen years and takes part in educational and peaceful animal rights demo’s against the fur trade, vivisection and Canada's Seal hunt. She has been involved with the Irish Anti Vivisection Society since the age of 12 and does regular voluntary photography and demo's for ARAN
